Volunteer to help operate the Poole Park (Miniature) Railway
As a Community Interest Company (CIC), The Friends of Poole Park charity has recently been awarded the tender and a 30 year lease to operate the Poole Park (Miniature) Railway.
To realise our plan to reinstate a much loved family attraction and create new affordable activities and attractions for families to enjoy, we need your help!
If you would like to become a volunteer, contribute to this worthwhile goal, enjoy PoolePark and have fun helping to operate the railway – we’d love to hear from you.
The railway has been inoperative since last November, and we’re aiming to be up-and-running again for the summer school holiday with the Grand Opening on Saturday 22nd July 2017.
We are currently seeking to fulfil the following roles:
– Train Drivers / Relief Drivers
– Station Managers
– Permanent Way Managers
– Team Appointer (to help manage the rostering of volunteers and ensuring coverage for continuous operations)
During school holiday periods the railway will operate during Park opening hours 10 am to 6 pm, 7 days a week, and drivers would need to be available 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after Park opening times to ready the train and rolling stock, and to secure the rolling stock overnight.
You can volunteer as much time as you can afford to give (although half-day bytes of time would be very helpful for scheduling purposes).
Training will be provided and Drivers / Reliefs will need to achieve a certified safe standard for obvious public safety reasons.
On Tuesday 15th and Thursday 22nd June, we held opening evenings for prospective volunteers to meet some of the volunteer directors of Poole Park Railway CIC and explore the opportunities.
We are currently in full flow with Driver Training Sessions with another Volunteer Evening set for Tuesday 25th July 2017. To register your interest before then, please contact us via the form below.
Volunteer with the Friends
The Friends of Poole Park are volunteers and local residents, who give their valuable time to help keep Poole Park a beautiful place to visit for locals and visitors alike.
The historic Information Kiosk is vital to help distribute information to vistors, promote membership of the Friends of Poole Park and raise funds for community initiatives in the park. Our team are looking for more vounteers to donate a few hours to keep the kiosk open. For more information or to volunteer, please contact us via the form below:
