Volunteer to help operate the Poole Park (Miniature) Railway
As a Community Interest Company (CIC), The Friends of Poole Park charity was awarded the tender and a 30 year lease to operate the Poole Park (Miniature) Railway.
To realise our plan to operate a much loved family attraction and maintain affordable activities and attractions for families to enjoy, we need your help!
If you would like to become a volunteer, contribute to this worthwhile goal, enjoy PoolePark and have fun helping to operate the railway – we’d love to hear from you.
We are always happy to welcome volunteers for the following roles:
– Train Drivers / Relief Drivers / Guards
– Track Maintenance
– Ticket office
– Team Appointing (to help manage the rostering of volunteers and ensuring coverage for continuous operations)
The railway operates at weekends and during school holiday periods, to coincide with park opening hours which are 10 am to 5 pm, 7 days a week.
You can volunteer as much time as you can afford to give (although half-day bytes of time would be very helpful for scheduling purposes). Drivers would ideally need to be available 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after Park opening times to ready the train and rolling stock, and to secure the rolling stock overnight.
Training will be provided and Drivers / Reliefs will need to achieve a certified safe standard for obvious public safety reasons.
Volunteer with the Friends
The Friends of Poole Park are volunteers and local residents, who give their valuable time to help keep Poole Park a beautiful place to visit for locals and visitors alike.
The historic Information Kiosk is vital to help distribute information to vistors, promote membership of the Friends of Poole Park and raise funds for community initiatives in the park. Our team are looking for more vounteers to donate a few hours to keep the kiosk open. For more information or to volunteer, please contact us via the form below:
