Volunteer – Tim Drew

My interest in railways started when I was about eight years old and I use to go with my grandad, who drove GWR and SDJR, to the Marshalling Yards in Gloucester where we were allowed to travel on the footplate of any Locos that were in use.

We moved to Poole in the early sixties to a house that backed on to Poole Park and I started collecting tickets on the Poole Park Railway.  At the end of the day I was allowed to drive  Vanguard, the original steam Loco, back to the shed.  Recently, when the Model shop closed where I was working, the opportunity came up to Volunteer  on the Poole Park Railway.

I have experience of people with Dementia and Disabilities which I can draw on when dealing with the public who use the Poole park Railway.
